what are the first steps in teaching a 6 yr. old boy how to entertain himself. For the last 3 years we have been raising our 6 yr old great grandson due to drug problems with his parents and grandparents. We have legal custody. We love this child very much but my husband spends almost every waking minute at the childs beck and call keeping him entertained and trying to reassure him that he is loved and wanted. I disagree with the overindulgence of my husband for this child. Can you please advise. Understandably, the child seems to need constant reassurance and does not know how to entertain himself at all. My husband is 66 and I am 70 and not in the best of health. Your advice please.
