Question
My son who is 5, loves to play with a certain 9-year old at the park. The kid's mother sits in her car the entire time while her son will sometimes curse at and scare other kids. My son doesn't quite get that other kids are scared of him (he thinks it's a fun game of cops and robbers). I finally put my foot down in front of my son and the kid and said they weren't allowed to play together. What's the right thing to do here? And, if preventing them from playing together is the answer, how do I do that? It's important to note that I spoke with the boy's mother and she said he has behavioral issues (like turrets - which doesn't seem likely) and that separating them was best.
