13yo struggles

Question

My son is 13. He will be starting 8th grade this year. He got 5 detentions and two phone calls to the school from other parents saying he was bothering their kids. The detentions were for disrupting class, talking, disrespect. We grounded him, took away electronics, no friends over etc.. nothing really worked. I’m reading your book teen proofing and was wondering if before school starts we should tell him we will hold him back a year if he continues to get in trouble at school. Or if we should ground him for longer periods of time. He would get grounded for two or three weeks at a time but after reading your book I feel we didn’t ground him long enough to make an impact. Thanks.
