Question
How do I get my son to listen to me without it ending in a screaming match? Sometimes he's a wonderful listener, but other times he will flat out refuse to do what I've told him. If I put him in time out, he leaves his room and follows me downstairs, begins screaming and crying, and adamantly refusing to stay put, until I've come up with a good enough threat to make him stay. It's exhausting. (He will be 5 in April).
We have stripped his room of everything except bare essentials and he's lost major privileges such as screen time for the past few months. No amount of privilege loss seems to work.
