Question
We have an 8yo boy. His teacher let us know he “often gets distracted in the middle of a task, needs multiple reminders to turn in work, write down his homework, and to focus on the task at hand.” We made a list of what he needs to do to be ready for school in the a.m., and what he needs to complete in the p.m. after school, to create structure/instructions for him to follow. We took away TV for 2 weeks, & created a star chart. He is 1/2 way thru week 2, & we received the note from teacher above. They want to discuss “positive” strategies. I wanted to use the DRC, but not sure if they’ll agree. Help! Is his lack of focus what we should even be addressing? What are other options?
