Time for Tickets

Question

We use timeout for our son who will be 3 in January. He is very stubborn when he gets into trouble for something and now seems to use timeout as a reset button - ie, will almost ask to go to timeout so he can reset and do what we tell him (vs. doing so in the moment). Perhaps this is fine as long as he's changing the behavior but are there strategies to have him do what we ask vs. needing to go to timeout before he agrees to change the behavior?
