Question
Hi there,
My 7 year old girl and 4 year old boy have been fighting and fighting - and all of a sudden, its fighting ALL THE TIME. My husband and I went away for 10 days and left them with my parents. When we got back, my parents reported that they just won't stop fighting.
There's no peace in the house anymore, and they cannot go 5-10 minutes without bickering and arguing, and crying loudly (for the 4 year old). There's now obvious contention between the two of them, with both quick to say nasty things to each other.
We have been sending them to their room (together) each time they do it, and we are trying to stay out of it. We do make them apologize to each other. However there's often pushing, scratching, hitting. Little brother clawed her so badly last week she had a few nasty looking bleeding scratches..but she'd provoked him to no end. No excuses for physical harm but where do we draw the line with physical harm/arrogant or nasty words where its hard to tell who provoked who first? No I'm not getting involved but surely there is a line we need to draw, and guidance we need to give.
How can we have peace in the house again? More importantly, we really would love it if we could have one big happy family who stick up for each other instead of putting each other down.
