Adjusting to new family system

Question

My son Carter is 13 and in 7th grade, he is suffering from anxiety and depression. I have recently gotten married, one year ago this month, and my husband has 3 other children (16 boy, 12 boy, and 5 girl). He is really having a hard time adjusting to this new home environment. Carter has a younger sister Sarah that is also in the home with me. His behaviors include things like crying, throwing up, and just isolation. Carter is bothered by everything that the step-family does, ex. chewing too loud, speaking, breathing, everything..... It has gotten so bad, that i end up trying to stay away from home as much as possible. I end up doing activities just with Sarah and Carter to return in the late evenings so that he isn't so depressed. I am really struggling with this area. I have recently been taking Carter to a local counselor, but no progress so far. I have been divorced from his Father for about 5 years, and his Dad is very involved. He has also attended the counseling sessions. The saying is true..."you are only as happy as your saddest child", and all i really want in life is for my children to be happy. Please help me.
