To Medicate, or Not

Question

I've wrote to you a year ago, now I need your advice on this situation. My 17 yo daughter was upset a lot, cried for an extended period so I took her to a psychologist. My daughter likes her sessions and I insisted on an evaluation from a child psychiatrist, just in case. I though it would be a thorough evaluation of many aspects of her and her behaviour, but the doctor right away prescribed an antidepressant!! I was so upset and scared that I wanted to grab my daughter and leave. Doctor said she's depressed and requires medication. I try really hard to explain to my daughter not to mistake difficult periods of her life with depression, I don't want her to adopt an "I am sick" role. She's emotional like girls her age, taking difficult subjects in school and believes this magic pill will make her happy. Please help me how to handle this situation.
