Question
I am referring to my previous question about a 5 years old student in my preschool. The boy is not my son.
I don't think that he has ADHD or Autism. When I spoke to the mother, she told me that she got to be strict with him when it comes to homework time. She managed to get him to write and so on... He also does his chores like making his bed in the morning. Sounds like he behaves himself at home and not in school. But I don't think that's the case. He doesn't obey any person in authority. He doesn't care what the teacher tells him to do. As if "I will do it, if I'd like to".
His parents are working full time and long hours, mom doesn't really sees him through the day. He goes home after school. His maternal grandma is his caregiver. At home there are 2 cousins, age 2 and a baby. Granny has a helper (foreign housemaid).
According to granny, she has to threaten him with a cane. It works sometimes. He also bullies his 2 year old cousin and that cousin behaves like him too! I wonder how granny could take it with these 2 active and disobedient kids.
I think there is problem with home discipline? Oh yes... about the screen time. He has been with ipad a lot when he was younger. I already told his mom to stop him.
What advice should I give to the family?
