What is the right way to handle 2-year-old post-nap tantrums/crankiness? My 29 month old boy/girl twins often are extremely out of sorts when they wake from their afternoon nap. Today my daughter hit me when I woke her, which is very uncharacteristic. Do I simply leave them in their rooms until it subsides? When I’ve tried that it can last up to an hour and result in a major tantrum. Or, do I simply ignore and try to distract, such as with a snack? Usually even trying to hold/comfort results in physical resistance followed by begging to be held, then more resistance, so I’m leaning towards leaving in their rooms, but wanted to get your insight. Thank you!
