Change her circumstances- She'll change her behavior.

Question

My daughter is 3 5 months years old and is having potty training trouble. She showed great interest and the "classic" signs of readiness at 2 years old but then became very resistant and finally we gave up thinking we should take a break in case it was a power struggle issue. Fast forward a year and we have tried to resume potty training every other month with absolutely no success. Most recently, if reminded or forced, every hour, to urinate she will stay dry all day and all night EXCEPT when she needs to poop. When she poops it is never the same time of day, she sneaks off when our attention is off of her and poops and pees somewhere in the house. She shows no initiative to take herself to the toilet for urine or poop. She begs to go to school but can't be accepted until toilet training is complete. I am at my wits end trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Last of all, her behavior is otherwise quite advanced and we have no reason to suspect any type of developmental delay.
