ADD/ADHD controversy.

Question

I have a 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son. We had my daughter tested this summer for a suspected learning difference. She struggles with reading and comprehension. My husband has dyslexia so know there is a likelihood. The diagnosis was of course ADD. She has a really high IQ and there was a somewhat low processing score, but no LD. My husband and I do not believe in ADHD/ADD. I am somewhat at a loss of what to do because it seems as if unless you accept this diagnosis and medicate her there is not much anyone is willing to do. We have additional worries about my son as well but we hesitate to get him tested because we know with the guidelines out there now he will surely be ADHD and feel as if it will be a waste. Can you give me any advice as to a different road I may take?
