Question
I am getting pressure to automatically red shirt my son from kindergarten. He is an April birthday, bright, and age appropriate--no more or less mature than kids his age. There isn't a specific problem, and his pre school teachers generally say he's where he should be. I want to do what's best for my child, but I think holding him back under the circumstances to give him a competitive advantage isn't it! I need suggestions--should I have him evaluated? His sister was also an April birthday, and is doing second grade work in first grade, and I feel like we'd be holding him back for not being ahead.
