I'm a school counselor and I was wondering what your thoughts are on holding a child back and keeping him in the same grade for another year?
I'm working with a boy in the 6th grade and he is very immature and he is several years behind academically and he doesn't fit in very well with the other kids his age.
Many schools today simply place the child in "special education".
Should this child have been held back several years ago?
