Rewards at school.

Question

I'm having another problem with my kids' school. I have a 10 yr old and 7 year old. The teachers use an excessive amount of candy and full size cans of soda as incentives. This is already appalling to me but the rewards are for things I feel they should be doing anyhow, like walking quietly in the hall or turning in homework. When one of the teachers was confronted she remarked that they are just kids and to stop worrying about it. Are kids this age expected to make a good choice when its constantly shoved in their face every day? Or is it time for me to talk to the principal?
