Question
My 6y.o. boy has been caught lying. About brushing his teeth, and eating his dinner (he threw it away when we weren't looking) - nothing major, but I am concerned about growing a character in him with integrity. We have explained to him that Satan is the "Father of Lies" and when we lie we are going against God. We explained that when he lies we cannot believe what he says and I have made a point of whenever he tells me something (even when I know it is the truth) I will say, "How can I believe you? You have lied to me before, how do I know you are not lying to me now". Mom's who have been through this stage of life tell me that it is just a phase and that he will be ok, but I do not want this to be a chronic character flaw. How can I nip this?
