Four Out of Control

Question

HELP! We have a four year old that we are having major issues with. He is at daycare five days a week, but between daycare and home he is on the ticket program for not doing what he is told. He was showing some improvement, but has recently gone off the deep end. He now is losing his tickets almost daily and when we tell him that he has to go to his room the rest of the day, he will go in for a couple of minutes and then quickly come out saying he doesn't want to. We will put him back in his room, but it continues. We have even sometimes told him that if he doesn't stay in his room, he will lose tickets for the following day. Needless to say it is not working. In addition, he is now starting to hit is friends and his brother while at daycare and at home. We have already removed the ability to do the things that he likes, like watching a weekend movie or going out to play. But nothing seems to be working. He will even tell us that he doesn't care and laugh about it or smile while he says he doesn't care. Both my husband and I are at a loss for what to do now. Even daycare has expressed concerns about this physical contact with the other kids and his brother. Do you have any other possible ideas that we can use to help end this issue?
