Executive Function Disorder

Question

I'm hoping for guidance for a 13-year-old with an "Executive Order Dysfunction." Essentially, he has many of the traits of autism, but not enough of them for an ASD diagnosis. A local agency has said that one of the traits of this Dysfunction is that you can tell them something over and over again, but it's not going to change their behavior. If the behavior is something that wouldn't be acceptable in a kid without this Dysfunction, should it be something that is treated differently in a kid with the Dysfunction? (For example, unintentional disrespect toward a parent, a sense of entitlement, negativity, poor table manners, etc.) Should this behavior be corrected when it happens repeatedly or do you just let it go and write it off to the Dysfunction?

Also, perhaps a broader question is generally what are your feelings on the actual labeling of a kid as having this Dysfunction in the first place?

Thank you.
