Question
How should I handle this situation: I am out shopping with my 17-year-old daughter. I ask, while trying on a very ordinary pair of sunglasses, "How do these look?" She hisses at me to stop at once and says I'm embarrassing, putting a sour note on what could have been a wonderfully pleasant outing. Do I let these comments slide, chalking them up to teenage moods or address? And if the latter, in what manner?
