F in Spanish

Should we lower the boom for one mistake? Our 15 year old daughter is a good student (almost all A's) and pretty responsible--honestly no complaints. The problem is that she has an F in Spanish due to a group project wherein all parties did not submit work. She had multiple opportunities to do the work herself and submit, but chose to blow it off/not take it seriously. We and she have spoken to the teacher about amending this (we rarely, if ever, intervene at school) and unfortunately, we only anticipate her grade rising to a D or C at best. There is only a week until the end of the grading period. My husband has told her she will have to quit color guard, but is considering mercy. Is jerking her out of her most prized activity too harsh for this mistake?
