Question
My son was diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorder - hyposensitive. Is there any validity or credibility to these disorders? It concerns me that every child who is active & misbehaves is now given a disorder. However, he's had every symptom & in spite if loving consistent discipline hasn't improved until we started the daily occupational therapy in our home. He's always been very active & played outside a lot instead of television or video games. We thought he was getting enough exercise but his behavior only improved after starting the crab walk, wheelbarrow, monkey bars, tug of war, deep pressure & yoga - specific occupational therapy exercises to help him "integrate his senses" or did he just need more physical activity to burn off energy?
