transition from homeschool to regular school

Question

Thanks for your last response, I have gotten the help I need and am doing so much better. Getting meds for anxiety has made me SUCH a more patient and less irritable mama! And more ability to be firm and less anxious that the kids "aren't going to like me" and all that nonsense. We did enroll the kids in school and my oldest, who has been homeschooled for the last two years and is now in third grade, is having some trouble adjusting to the new pace of work, staying focused in the classroom, and doesn't like this newfangled idea of doing work at home after school one bit! My question is particularly about the homework. Is it okay for me to go over his assignments and explain what he needs to get done? And particularly with spelling, which is a very long list of words every week way above where we ended in homeschool last year, how much extra help should I be giving him? I feel like he needs me to teach him the study skills of how to study spelling and such, but I really don't want to get in the habit of being super-involved. Thanks!
