24 mo old Not Using Toilet

Question

I have just begun potty training my 24 month old son. This is day 5. We've had few successes and have been using the potty bell. We tried doing it without the bell but he just goes on the floor and tells us after. The big problem right now though is that as soon as he is left alone in a room he goes to the bathroom on the floor. It feels like EVERY time. It can sometimes be minutes after he's gone on the potty. I'm just hoping that he's not doing it in response to anxiety. We are trying very hard to follow the 5Cs and we don't even mention the potty until the bell goes off. Any ideas as to what the problem could be or a solution? I really don't want to make him accompany me every time I need to go let the dog in/out or to the bathroom for myself.
