Question
My 11 year old daughter is playing the victim. Nothing is ever her fault and she takes no responsibility for anything. She's petulant, disrespectful and downright rude to peers, coaches, adults and us. We're partly to blame as usual by enabling, spoiling, validating all her feelings, etc. I've read the books about ignoring "white noise" but I feel this has gone beyond just minor eye rolling and the exaggerated sigh. I'm not really sure what the right consequences are in this instance. We've tried early bedtimes and banning electronics but nothing is working. She just seems to feel more victimized. Obviously we need to take responsibility for our part but do we also need a more creative consequence?
