Let History be Your Teacher

Question

I have 2 daughters ages 3 and 20 months. We visit at my mother's house often - at least once a week, sometimes more often. My youngest daughter will not let her grandma hold her. Any time Grandma tries to get her to sit on her lap or hug her, she just screams. Most of the time, the only way my daughter will sit with her is when Grandma is the only option because there's no one else home. My oldest daughter acted the same way when she was young, but has now outgrown it (thankfully) and is happy to go see Grandma. I just wonder why she reacts this way and hope that she too grows out of it soon.
