Thank you for the content of ParentGuru. We find it affirming and encouraging as we raise our 6 children.
I've seen John's answers to Pokémon questions before, but this is a little different concern.
My 8-year-old son has recently been given a few Pokémon cards by a friend of his at school, and enjoys them. My wife's and my concern is mostly about Pokémon that have psychic powers/moves or dark powers ("dream-eater" is a move). My son does seem to highlight these kind of moves as he talks about this new-found interest with us. I grew up playing the game, both electronic and card version. However, I was about 14-15 when Pokémon first became popular, and I had a good sense of fantasy vs. reality when it came to the more fantastic moves.
What would your recommendation be for my 8 year old about Pokémon, especially the monsters with psychic and dark powers?
