Question
I found out that my 16 year old son has been smoking pot regularly. Based on John's recommendation, we are considering in home drug testing but I have a few concerns.
Question... do OTC drug tests give parents a false sense of security given the fact that many teens know how to 'beat the test'? One of my sons friends was tested regularly at home but never quit smoking pot and he always tested negative. Also, if a teen doesn't know how to beat the test, will testing lead them to avoid the drugs that can be detected on tests and switch to more dangerous drugs that cannot, or increase alcohol consumption? What alternative is there if we decide not to drug test? Thank you for your help in this matter.
