Talking to Teen About Feelings

Question

Hi! I heard John on his radio show recently say that we should not engage in conversations about feelings with our children. My 13 year old son is having a difficult time at school with fitting in. He gets made fun of and picked on for what he looks like, says, wears, etc. and he is very sensitive to this and wants to be accepted by his peers. What do you suggest we do or say in that type of situation? I don't want him to be miserable at school and I do not want to totally ignore his concerns and face potentially serious consequences in the future. Thanks for the info!
