In an upcoming custody case, the father of my 18 month old is trying to get the baby for 7 consecutive weeks during the summer as well as other time sharing, after the father will move back to Canada next month. (We live in US) Although the baby sees his father 3 days weekly, the baby has never spent a night with his father nor has the baby ever been away from me, his mother, for a single night. I'm, of course, hoping the judge rules against his wishes. However, what potential consequence could being away from his primary caregiver have on a 1.5 yr old? What is an appropriate age for a child to have overnights away from his primary caregiver? And to spend 7 weeks away from his primary caregiver?
