Toddler Bed Transition

Question

I'm wondering what the appropriate age is to transition a toddler into a toddler bed? We still have our daughter in a crib at 24 months. She is now toilet trained (thanks to Toilet Training without Tantrums) :)) And I would like to convert her to a toddler bed before we start night training. I've been debating converting her crib into a toddler bed with a rail but my concern is that she will get out of bed and walk around or possibly hurt herself in the dark. She always puts herself to sleep after bedtime routine, but there are nights where she is wound up and will spend a lot of time moving around, standing (or even jumping) in her crib for up to 45 minutes before settling down to fall asleep. So it's been nice having the crib help keep her contained and fortunately, she hasn't tried to climb out of it yet. What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance
