Question
I have a just-turned 1 year old boy who has been sleeping in a swaddle bag (love me baby/love to dream) since he was born and I did try to wean about 6-7 months ago, he was up all night for 2 nights with lots and lots of crying, and we gave up. Now he is 1, and on to the largest possible size and we want to take it off. I have done 2 days of no swaddle and he is unable to fall asleep without it. If I stay with him, lots and lots of screaming and crying. Then he would do a 20 minute nap and continue screaming. I'm not brave enough to do nights, knowing he will be up screaming all night. I'm tired enough as it is - I have a 4 year old to look after too and she will get disturbed at night - and misbehave due to overtiredness the next day!
Do you have any advice? Do I continue to swaddle (am afraid I will have to keep it on forever and pay a tailor to make a bigger one!), or do I let him cry? Check on him every 5 minutes until he falls asleep? Please help!
