Question
My first grader has always been a difficult child and still whines and complains and occasionally throws fits. We use the ticket system and it has helped. But what do you suggest we do when she acts up at someone else's house? Tonight we went over to a friends' house and I went over the rules before we got there. My almost 5 yr old did great. My 6 yr old complained about dinner, whined about getting another cookie, and then threw a complete fit about leaving and leaving the cookies at their house. It was extremely embarrassing. She lost all her tickets and since it was close to bedtime, didn't really go to bed much earlier but she didn't get books read to her, which she loves. What do you do when your kid acts like this in public? Besides not going in the first place.
