Teens and Homework and the Internet

Question

Internet Guidelines again. As my kids get older and internet use becomes more ubiquitous, I'm finding it more and more challenging to know where to draw lines. I have three teens 13,15,17. Nearly all of their homework assignments are posted and submitted online. It's clear that they move from homework to other things throughout the evening. I come into where they are working and sometimes find them watching shows they've downloaded, sometimes found them doing homework. It's hard to know which one is taking more of their time, but they're online essentially all evening. What's a reasonable way to discourage them from digressing and also encourage them to shut down the screen and go do something else? It seems very natural for them to finish homework, then start having fun without having to move an inch. Software to monitor them would answer the question definitively, but this sets me up as the police guy. I miss the days when I could pull out a board game and the kids would come running. Their social/entertainment/personal lives are online now, is it time to give it up and wait for grandkids to play games?
