Question
Help!! Bedtime question… My twelve year old doesn’t want to be reminded or nagged (which I wouldn’t either) about when it’s time to go to bed, so we have left it up to her to get herself to bed. My husband feels that there should be a consequence if she isn’t in bed right at 9:00 on school-nights or 9:30 on weekends/summer. The consequence being- she goes to bed half an hour earlier the next night (even if she’s 2 or 3 minutes late). I feel its a little much and there are so many other things to worry about than if she’s a little late getting to bed (even if it’s 5 mins past), but obviously my husband feels different. Would you have another solution or consequence if she’s isn’t in bed on time? Should bed times ever be eliminated for older kids, if so what age?
